Bree Crawls!!!

October 3, 2007
What an eventful couple weeks it has been! Bree is crawling and pulling herself up on everything. Julie picked her up at daycare on Sept. 27th and she was playing on the mat like usual and as she walked in Bree just started crawling towards her. It was an amazing moment especially since Julie felt so torn each day she headed off to work when Bree was so close to crawling. She got to see the first forward crawling steps of Bree and that is definitely a moment she will never forget. Life has not been the same since that day. Bree doesn’t really stay in one place for long. Aunt Jennifer gave us some great toys from Bree’s counsins for her to pull up on. And wow, between crawling and pulling up, Bree is a very busy girl! She is becoming so independent but still likes for us to be around to show off her new skills. She loves to squeal with happiness when she stands up, when she’s eating, when she’s just sitting, whenver. She has also mastered “Bah-bah” and a couple of days ago “Da-Da”. Julie is trying to be supportive, but we are using a lot of “m” words to encourage “Ma-Ma” to be the next sound coming out of Bree’s mouth. She also claps her hands together in pure delight. She is just one happy child.

We had some exciting adventures this past weekend. The Murphys headed out to the Texas State Fair to continue one of Julie’s favorite childhood traditions. We watched pigs race, saw a human cannonball, a lighted parade, Big Tex, and so many more amazing attractions. Videos to come. Bree played her first midway game by pulling a duck out of a pond of water. She won a baby sized turtle for her chewing delight. At the end of our trip we took Bree up on the Texas Star. The huge ferris wheel that towers over Fair Park. She loved it and looked out among the many lights in fascination. It was quite a memorable first State Fair outing. Those few hours could definitely be titled “Happily Ever Afer” as it was one of the first times that Sean and I felt like we were able to share in an experience with Bree and really enjoy it with her.

On Saturday, Bree attended her first TCU home football game. Well actually she only attended her first tailgate as we never went inside. She napped after a walk through Frog Alley and hanging out with her loopster friends. She played after her nap and probably would have made it into the 2nd half of the game if Mommy hadn’t forgetten her second bottle. But regardless it was a good first step in her TCU brainwashing process!!!

This week we are taking a road trip to Huntsville, Alabama to see Grandpa Murphy and Grandma Sonya. We are going to stop in Memphis for Bree’s first date with Cannon Barron (son of Sean’s longtime friends Nick and Ann). We are also planning a stop in Hot Springs, AR on our way back to Texas. More stories to come from the traveling Murphys! Be sure to check out August and September pictures as we are finally up to date. Thanks Aunt Sara in North Carolina for getting us on the ball :)
