And we are back…

Bauer’s birthday was a good distraction from the regular life of the family with two kiddos that we normally live.  Those days are far from glamorous and I normally ask myself in the course of one of those days several times “who thought this was a good idea?” (meaning whatever is going on at the moment or the entire concept of child rearing).

Today Bree took no nap…although we tried awfully hard…3 times…eventually you just have to throw in the towel and look instead towards an earlier bedtime.  Bree got home from school and had to put on her pajamas.  I took that and the loud screaming as a sign that she was not going to want to leave the house anytime soon.  We watched what was probably way too much tv, played with puzzles, terrorized the dogs, made some dinner that only the dogs and I enjoyed (and Sean later after work), and took a bath.  Again nothing glamourous, but it’s the life of the Murphys.

To make things a bit more exciting, Bauer somehow hid my remote control in the kid hamper before he went off to dreamland.  It took me no less than 2 hours to find it.  Oh the joys!

Bree cried for about an hour when I put her to bed…oh and pounded her fists on the door and screamed for her new puzzle.  I mean the girl has some serious dedication to a cause!  That will serve us all well in the near or far future.

I decided today that my “hell” would possibly be to be stuck raising a two year old forever…no reasoning, no logic, no pattern…just a survival of the most chemically balanced…I would fail quickly and it wouldn’t matter, I’d just have to keep trying…

Tomorrow we are going to attempt “potty training” the little angel.  I found this book at Half Price Books for $1.22 that was written in 1974 that says I can train her in a day.  It was a revolutionary technique 35 years ago…it involves a baby doll that pees, lots of reverse psychology and some a serious block of time dedication.  It’s going to either be a smashing success or a serious crash and burn…regardless, I promise to take pictures becaues it’s sure to be hilarious either at the time or in like 20 years when Sean and I are on vacation enjoying some kidless years again!

Happy Friday and almost weekend everyone!
