“Say Cheese”

Today was School Picture Day.  You all remember those days fondly, don’t you??!!!  You wore a special outfit and practiced your smile all in anticipation to be immortalized in an embarrassing inch by inch picture forever in the notorious yearbook.  Yep, picture day…good times.

For Bree and Bauer, this is merely practice for the fun of yearbook pictures in their future.  In preschool, the picture people come as a fund raising opportunity for the school and to sell huge overpriced packages to busy parents.  Sometimes they come with a cool free gift (like the lunch bag with Bree’s pic on it last year).  So you still have to be prepared even if you know you won’t buy.

I told Bree this morning that it was picture day and she said, “We go see Ms. Sarah??!!”  I love that Bree equates pictures with Ms. Sarah (aka Sarah Wehkamp who will take amazing pictures of you and your family for very reasonable rates if you want her too, email me and I will give you all the info you need).  Bree was not very happy when I explained that she would take a picture at school.  She was even less excited when I told her she got to take a picture with Bauer as well.

So I dressed them both in red and while we were playing in the cove in the 20 minutes we had to kill before leaving for school, I thought maybe I could help them practice.  When I picked up Bree from school after Picture Day last year, both the director of the school and her teacher both told me how Bree didn’t smile in any of the pictures…and come to think of it, they really didn’t think Bree had ever smiled at school.  Awesome!  So my one goal for this year was to at least have Bree smile for a pic or two.  Just to prove that she can!

These were a few of our trial shots – these are proof positive that I would be lost without Sarah Wehkamp:

Bree smiled kinda, but is staring at the a leaf far far away…

Then I attempted the sibling pic…Bauer looked away right as I clicked.

And then I lost Bree…

Let’s try by the tree…classic!

How about we pose with the adorable penguin??!! Nah…

I might want to stick to single person photography…at least she tried to smile in this one. But don’t you just love the car in the garage in the background.

And one last action shot of my boy on the go.  This kid smiles all the time, I just can’t get it camera…one day!

The report from school on picture day was that Bree did fine (no report of a smile or not) and Bauer cried the whole time until his favorite teacher went down there to calm him down.  Should be a good lunch bag coming my way!!!
