Thanks for the memories….

I will forever be the person who lives by the academic year.  This is mostly because of my job, but also now because I have kids and they schedules are largely dictated by when they are in school.  I love living by the academic year because you get the enjoy the anticipation of the new school year starting in August (one of my favorite things to this day is school supply shopping in August) and relish the finality and accomplishment of wrapping everything up in May.

This year is no exception.  I’ve wrapped quite a bit at work these past couple weeks and today marked the end of the preschool year for Bree and Bauer.  It’s such an amazing process to remember where your kids were when they started the year and how much they have grown throughout the year.   And even though the kids and I don’t have a 3 month break in our future, we do get to have the feeling of finishing one year and moving to the next.  This year is especially important because the kids will be changing schools in a couple weeks.  We’ve been so blessed to have found New World 2 years ago and it has been a great community for our family.  Due to my work hours and need for more consistency and coverage, we are switching to another Methodist preschool.  I have no doubt it is going to be just as fabulous.

So today we marked the end of the preschool year and the end of our New World time.

The end of year program is controlled chaos at its best.  You can spot Bauer by looking for the white blanket covering his whole body on the left hand side of the front row. Bree has a green bow in her hair and is three over from the right in the front row.

Bree was so excited to show off her singing and dance talents to the crowd.

Bauer was on stage for about a minute.  He spotted Sean and bee-lined it for the “bleachers”.  He stayed in Daddy’s arms the rest of the time.

Bree got to join us when she was done with all her fun songs.  What a smile she gave me.

So proud of my little mini-me for finishing her 2nd year of preschool.

What an adorable set of mischief.

Bree Bree posed on stage for me.  This picture just shows how much of a big girl she is really becoming.

Sean and I did think it was quite symbolic that Bree decided to go poo-poo in the potty right before we left New World.  It was almost as if she was saying, “See New World, you doubted me but I told you I could be potty trained”.  The patience of her teachers and of her family definitely paid off in that category.

We said goodbye to New World and the kids came immediately home for naps…the whole process wore us all out.  I assume this is good practice for when they are in actual school…I’m not sure I have the stamina for that yet.  Glad my babies are still my babies for a few more years!
