Our annual ferris wheel ride…

We got to look out over Dallas today from one of our favorite spots.

The Murphy clan was riding high on the State Fair of Texas Ferris Wheel.

It could not have been a more perfect day to take the kids to the fair and our tradition of going each year only becomes more special as the kids retain memories and get excited for the trip.

Bree requested that we ride the ferris wheel first thing when we arrived.  What a great plan for such a little girl!

Bauer has recently found a love for sunglasses and was sportin’ his Mr. Cool look in line!

Bauer is also just an inch taller than “the kid that can ride free with an adult”…the drawback of big kids!

After much anticipation, the Murphys got on one of the pink cars…Bree was thrilled! The kids were a bit cautious at first sitting so still.

Then as we got going they turned around and looked down at the fair!

Then got really brave and stood up (this is against all the rules, we realize)!

Bree was testing how far her head could stretch out of the ferris wheel car…so proud!

Then Bauer did the same!

Was anyone watching these crazy kids…oh yes, here we are!

After our ferris wheel adventure, we headed over to do a little window shopping and Bauer was drawn in by the nearby train, which happened to be connected to the Train Museum….so convenient!  So Daddy took the two B’s to run the trains while Mommy shopped.

The train that matched Bauer’s outfit!

A sleeping car train…reminds me of many a sleepless night traveling around Europe!

Not sure if that rope indicates that you are not supposed to sit down on the seats…but what rule did we not break at the fair today!

An engine car…that looks a little complicated!

They look like they could go rolling down the railway…adorable!

We shared a couple foot-long corny dogs after the train adventure.  Ben E Keith employees were giving away free Bud Light too…so Sean enjoyed a free beer and I reminded myself that I’m only about 6 more weeks away from those glorious beverages!

After a little lunch, we headed to our final stop…the petting/feeding zoo!  I’m not sure who enjoys this more, Sean and I or the kids, but it is always a hit.  I think there was a lot more petting this year than feeding, but we came away with all our fingers so it was a SUCCESS!

Bauer loved him some goats even though they kept taking his whole paper cup of food!

This seriously was the biggest pig I have ever seen…with like a zillion babies all trying to get at her nips.  Poor thing…no similac option for you!

0ut of all the animals, Bauer was most excited about the duck…go figure!

But he liked the camel a lot too…so cute!

All and all, we made it around to most of the animals…gotta love the family sized cup of farm food!

My personal favorite…miniature horses.  I just think they should give them away for everyone to take one home!

There was a bit of a meltdown over some icecream or lackthereof after leaving the petting zoo.  This reminded Sean and I we had arrived at our 3 hour limit of fun at the fair.  We got him a “Texas sized” turkey leg and me a Pokey-O’s icecream sandwich and headed for the exit!

Only three lousy tickets to spare….are we good planners or what!

Thanks Big Tex for another memory filled day!
