Sometimes, just sometimes…

I feel amazingly fiscally responsible.

This never happens when I’m at Carter’s, Ann Taylor Loft or at Target, but occasionally I find a deal and get so much satisfaction out of it that I just pat myself on the back.

Bree’s gymnastics class is one of those deals.  I can’t say that I found this deal (thank you, Tom’Anita), but I can say I’m 150% happy with how it has turned out.

Today was Bree’s 8th gymnastics class a the Hurst Rec Center.  It is 30 minutes of pure playtime with a few gymnastics lessons thrown in for good measure.  Ms. Tammie is amazing and during today’s class, the kids got to show off for their parents.  It was a recital of sorts.  One that has no costume fees, no dress rehearsals and no 3 hour agendas.  Just a few skills that the kids can do for their parents, the parents can take some pictures and you will be outta there at the same time as usual.

All this for a $24 fee (including a $2 fee for being non-Hurst residents) vs. my insanely large dance investment last year (each month we paid $55 not including all the other fees).  I told my mom on the way to the show-off class today that it would just be fiscally irresponsible to put her back in dance, especially since she does not ever talk about it or miss it.

I’ll put all that “extra” extracurricular money in our piggy bank for when she does really want to be a cheerleader or a dancer or a travel team soccer player.  But for now, I’m just basking in the deal that is the Hurst Rec Center Gymnastics Lessons.  And making myself feel way better about the times I go a little overboard at some of the other places around town…did I mention my love for DSW??!!

Here are some pics from today’s show-off (still working on figuring out my new camera…action shots still come out a bit blurry, but I’m trying):

Backwards Bear Crawl…fancy!

Jumping is the ultimate skill…

Tip Toeing…makes Bree even a taller girl!

Her whole class awaiting the balance beam!

Hanging is no problem for this monkey!

Our child is officially the class clown…she said she would rather have us watch each class than do her own thing.  Love her enthusiasm.

The beloved parachute…

And don’t count out your favorite future offensive lineman….he will start lessons in a couple weeks himself!  Balance is important for his future sports career!

All and all, it was a very fun morning…and we celebrated Bree’s gymnastics-related accomplishments with a victory lunch at Chick-Fil-A with the whole watching party….Daddy, Grammy, Mom and Bauer!

I mean we might as well go out to eat…look how much money I saved us :)
