Icecream and Push Presents…

So I’m 33 weeks and 2 days pregnant and I went to the doctor today and waited an hour for him to tell me that Bauer’s now only measuring 34 weeks and probably we won’t have to do a sonogram because that is within the normal range. All that excitement from two weeks ago about seeing the little guy before we actually “see” him flew out the window in a heartbeat…which Bauer’s is still strong…in the 140s today.

So while its always a good thing to hear that your baby is in a “normal” range of anything, I was still kinda sad. I’m getting so anxious to see his little feet and hands and have those little eyes look at me with pure exhaustion and need to feed. Oh well…7 weeks…no problem right…final laps so to speak!

The day got insanely better when Sean and Bree picked me up from work. The civic had to go see our friendly neighborhood mechanic Pat Murphy for a new radiator…so we have been living the life of a one car family!

Sean announced that Bree wanted to take me to dinner…on the way to get the newly fixed civic. So we started driving and decided to try out a new italian restaurant…Tony’s. Now this is new to us, not new to Arlington…we just normally don’t branch out much. We’ve decided that hole in the walls are sometimes the better way to go with toddlers…service can be faster and less people are in there to bother when the screaming, or in Bree’s case squealing, starts!!!

We were eating dinner when Sean announced that a package had come in the mail. He had that sexy grin on his face that told me he was very very proud of this package and I knew in an instant it had to be my push present. Now for all of you readers who haven’t had kids yet, a push present is a gift given from the husband to the wife at the end of a pregnancy as a way of saying “Thanks for carrying our child…I know it wasn’t easy, but I really appreciate it!” I love push presents! Sean told me I could guess the present and for every guess I got wrong, I would have to wait one more day to get the present. Well, I guessed on the first try. He got me diamond stud earrings…they are sooooo beautiful. They are a hard thing to photograph but believe you me they went in my ears quite quickly and will be there a lot for the rest of my life. He said it was the perfect gift for the future mom of two. Oh I just love push presents…at least I’ll look hot from the neck up for my last 7 weeks!!!

After dinner and the push present, I didn’t think our night could get much better until we realized there was a Braum’s right next door to Tony’s. What is a better way to cap off a great Italian meal than with an icecream cone. It turns out that my salt loving daughter makes an exception for icecream. She loved it. This was her first time truly having icecream not at home…and it was an adventure as always. The pink shirt she had on may have to be retired, but spray and wash may do me proud!

So Italian food, diamonds and rocky road can make a Monday with no sonogram the happiest day ever! Thanks my love!
