And finally the snow came…

We watched from inside for 3 days as the ice mocked us from the patio.  We braved it once but realized ice really is pretty lame in regards to the whole “playing” and “toddler” realm.

When we finally have given up on the weathermen being “right” about any of this crazy weather, we woke up to SNOW.  True bonefide snow…and in case we didn’t believe where it came from, it started to fall again through the morning hours.

We got the kids all bundled up to go appreciate this rare treat.

FYI – Bree does not believe that snow is rare at all because she has seen it in great supply in the 2 years she can remember in her little life.

Regardless, there was excitement all around.

We played in the backyard first!

Bree ate some snow…

…while Bauer prepared to sled down the slide.

There was a weak attempt at a snowman…
and a opportunity for a pic with the two older B’s.

We went inside after about 20 minutes because Bree was cold.  I fed Bennett and then we decided it was time to take the wagon and head up to the park.

Bennett got to get up close and personal with the snow on his 3 month birthday!  I’m not sure he was impressed with the outing.  He fell asleep half way to the park!

Who knew we would finally get to use the snowsuit we got as a gift for Bauer!

Here we go…

Bauer refused to get out of the wagon once we got to the park.  He discovered somewhere between the house and the park that he was COLD.  He demanded we go home immediately. He hunkered down in the wagon and just moaned the rest of the time we were there.

Bree, on the other hand, thinks it is so cool to see her favorite park covered in snow.

Bunson was having the world’s greatest morning!

Snow makes me tired too.  Wish I had a snow suit i could just pass out in!

Our two snow outings lasted about 35 minutes in total.  I looked at the clock when we got home from the park and realized we had been out in the snow twice before 10am.  That was either truly exciting (we had the whole day ahead of us) or just frightening (we had the whole day ahead of us).  I decided to block the whole thought out of my head.  It has been a long few days!

I’ve come to a few realizations during these past FOUR snow days:

  • I truly love my house…the layout and the hard surfaces make it easy to ride bikes inside going in circles over and over again.
  • A new video is a treasure especially after you have watched the Car Movie about 17 times. Thanks Heidi for letting us borrow Mater’s Tall Tales.
  • Toddlers are hard to entertain for more than 30 minutes at a time but they always love a good tv show.
  • The “baby stage” of a kid is the easiest of this whole darn process…thank goodness Bennett still only sleeps, eats, and poops.  That is all I can handle from the 3rd kid at this time.
  • Our family will probably never go anywhere it is cold for a vacation (such as skiing).  Kids whine when they are cold.  And require way too much stuff.
  • We will also never live anywhere where this past week would be viewed as a status quo winter.
  • I’m so thankful to have an elliptical exercise machine in my bedroom….it has made me feel a little less sloth-like this week.
  • What did I do before I was entertained by facebook?
  • You should always live by the football stadium hosting the Super Bowl  if you want to avoid rolling blackouts.
  • I love my job and can’t wait until I get to go back to it on Monday.
  • I love that my husband works from home but would have loved it even more if he could have played hooky for 4 days with us.
  • I am so thankful for heat and electricity…and pray constantly for those not as fortunate!

Gotta go feed my care bear look alike baby!  Happy snow playing everyone!
