A One Day Spring Break Staycation!

It’s “Spring Break” time here in Texas…

Having kids in preschool and a job in education that doesn’t take holidays like Spring Break seriously, the week looked pretty much just like most other weeks around this time of year.

However, I got the traveling bug a little bit and suggested we head to Fossil Rim (which is in Glen Rose, TX) last Saturday with a little detour to Granbury for a 10K road race thrown in just for fun!  It turned out to be a crazy yet memorable road-trip.

Bree posed with me after I got my medal for the 10K.  I had my best time at this distance.

We got to check out General Granbury’s birthday after the 10K race. Lots of fun booths for kid entertainment.  A bonus was getting to hang out with our good friends, Christie and Shawn, as well! The obligatory petting zoo! These baby pigs were just the cutest!

Tired much?!!

A train pulled by a tractor and barrels for the seats!

All this fun wore some kiddos out on our drive to Fossil Rim.

They were so sleepy Sean and I decided to keep driving…all the way to Stephenville, TX.  Home to Tarleton State University!  Love me a good college visit!

We also randomly stopped by a cemetery that had Confederate flags on many of the graves…these men actually fought in the Civil War.  Stephenville is OLD!

And then finally we arrived at Fossil Rim with 3 awake kids ready to see animals (or drive)!

Bree and Bauer were very serious about their pamphlets of animals we were to find.

Bennett and I were more interested in the snacks!

There was lots of “looking out the window” watching!

And then some actual animal sightings!

Baby Giraffes and Rhinos were so fun to watch!

And finally some animal feedings!

Yep he’s an animal too :) We left tired but happy campers!

We finished the day with a huge dinner at Babe’s Chicken House.  Needless to say we all slept good on Saturday night.  We had traveled all over but were all so happy to sleep in our own beds!

Hope all of you got to enjoy a fabulous little “Spring Break” as well!
