I have to hand it to my daughter. She has no trouble making decisions about big things…like where she wants to have her 6th birthday party. She immediately told me she wanted to have it at the butterfly place (she went there for another birthday a couple years ago and apparently it left a huge impression).
So I booked the party at the Texas Discovery Gardens Butterfly House not once, but twice (due to her flu disaster) and off we went. The second date turned out to be just perfect and with 70 degree temperatures in early February, we were just blessed beyond measure.
As my daughter gets older, one of my favorite things is seeing her interact with her friends. It was such a joy to have a bunch of them trek down to Fair Park to celebrate her birthday.
Some of her favorite girlfriends from Kindergarten
PARTY SET-UP:
Special thanks to Grammy and Granddad for helping get all the stuff inside and to Pinterest for all the ideas…
Bree helped make and decorate her cupcake butterfly
Party favors…ziploc butterflies with candy
PRE-PARTY:
Grammy and Bennett coloring away
Bauer checking out all the animals right outside the party room.
Checking out the beautiful gardens outside the butterfly house…is anyone else nervous about someone falling in the pond???!!! You should be*.
LET’S GET THIS PARTY STARTED:
We officially started the party with a butterfly craft…butterfly rings (which surprisingly even the boys got into)!
BUTTERFLY TIME:
*So remember when I asked if you were nervous about anyone falling into the pond? Well, Bree finished her party in a very memorable way…soaked from the neck down She was apparently trying to catch a tadpole and just lost her balance. And never caught said tadpole.
She was a trooper and I was very glad it was my kid who fell in and not someone else’s! Luckily Mary Kathryn had some extra clothes for her to change into and Grammy was there to buy her something in the gift store to make her mishap well worth it!
Never a dull moment around these parts! Happy birthday my wonderful 6 year old baby girl who continues to teach me more than I could ever hope to teach her. I’m a better (albeit crazier) person because of you and for that I will always be thankful!
