That Easter bunny is a tricky one…or better yet, getting to play the role of the Easter bunny is a tricky job!
Thought I would capture some of my favorite learning moments…
1. The weather man is only right about rain when you have planned an egg hunt in your backyard…the predicted rain will then come down not in cute rain drops, but in sheets of rain blowing sideways across your backyard.
2. Every child (whether they every mention it or not) will need to receive the same hollow chocolate bunny in their Easter basket. If you don’t, you will be sending your mom to CVS on Easter Sunday to pick up another hollow Easter bunny to magically appear on your daughter’s desk that afternoon (next to the picture of the chocolate bunny she drew and left out for the Easter bunny the night before).
3. All of those plastic eggs have holes in them so taping them around the center does not keep the ants from eating the jelly beans throughout the night.
4. Bree doesn’t really care what is in the Easter eggs, she just wants to hunt them and by hunt I mean get ALL OF THEM. She all about winning even when the competition is far from stellar (see number 5 and 6).
5. Bauer is a very inconsistent egg hunter…at the age of 4.5 he still gets extremely distracted and at both the TCU Easter Egg Hunt and our backyard one, he managed to snag only a couple eggs.
6. Bennett would still rather blow bubbles than hunt eggs.
7. Bree does not chocolate that crunches (so whoppers and crunch bars are out).
8. Despite the fact that Bauer’s favorite candy of all time is Reese’s Peanut butter cups, he will not eat them in other forms than the original. So all those egg shaped Reese’s Peanut butter cups and the giant bunny shaped Reese’s Peanut butter cup are useless to him.
9. Bennett is one of the only kids I’ve ever met that actually likes jelly beans…even the non-starburst kind…impressive.
10. The annual cousin confetti eggs war is always the best part of Easter…done and done.
Overall, Easter 2013 was a success. It rained early and then gave way to sunshine and just a wonderful day spent with family! Regardless of the rain, we celebrated being saved by Jesus once again and it filled my heart with joy looking at the lives we get to live now and beyond.
Below is an assortment of pics from the TCU Easter egg hunt last weekend and all the festivities of Easter this past weekend! Happy Spring everyone!
