‘October starts with a bang…

We decided to take the kiddos on some adventures this weekend and ended up making more memories than either Sean or I could have imagined.

We started with the State Fair of Texas on Friday night.  This has been a continuation of a family tradition I had growing up.  Sean agreed to try it out last year when Bree was just an infant and we loved it so much that we will go each year.  We spend a total of three hours at the most but we cram it full of fun…petting zoo, corn dogs, cotton candy, and a spin in the 212 story tall ferris wheel and we have 4 exhausted Murphys!  See below:

On Saturday, we had the neighbors watch Bauer while Sean, Bree and I went to do the TCU Theta 5K over in Fort Worth.  Bree was excited to have mommy and daddy all to herself and she did great as Sean and I forced ourselves up and over the many hills of the course.  We finished in pretty good time and remembered why we love running together…mainly because we push each other more than we can do on our own.  Bree enjoyed the water stations and was a bit wet by the time we ended the race!  There was a UTA v. TCU baseball game going on right next to the finish line so Bree also had a good time running up and down in that stadium!

After a little lunch, we headed out to our church’s Kountry Karnival…basically a fall festival that raises money for the Catholic School that the church supports and where we hope to send Bree and Bauer.  We watched a dance troupe perform, went on some huge inflatables, and bought some kids books.  Bree was asleep as we pulled out of the parking lot.

After naptime, we headed to the TCU football game.  All dressed in our purple we were ready for a fun time.  We hung out at the tailgate with the loop and Martin and Sean chased Bree all over the TCU grounds.  We had hotdogs and some drinks and headed into the game for the 3rd and 4th quarter.  Bree loves to sit front row and stand on the rails to see all the action.  She’s learning about “Go Frogs” and how to make the horned frog with her fingers.  She loves to clap and scream along with the crowd.  She can also spot the ball like a pro!  She is truly her father’s daughter.  I also thought it was funny that most little girls at TCU games are dressed in little cheerleader outfits, but Bree dresses more like a little football player with her kid jersey on.  Oh our tomboy!

Needless to say, we all slept very well last night.
