Daddy daycare

So what does a father do when he has two kids under two for a full day? Put up Christmas lights, of course. Lowe’s currently has 50% off their Christmas lights, so yesterday between Bree getting out of school at 2:30 and Bauer having a 3:30 Dr’s appointment we went and updated our collection. Included in this purchase was a book to help teach her all the child-like imagery that is Christmas.

It was a bit chilly, so we all bundled up and headed outside to start the light experience. First, since we had Bauer, we did some backyard lighting.

Bauer still got cold and was eventually moved inside but with the door open so he could watch.

Bauer started to wear down so we went upstairs, played and put him to bed.

So off to the front yard. I would put the lights on the front bushes, and Bree would connect the power. (The main plug was UNPLUGGED).

Bree was promised a real-life snowman. It’s the first Christmas-time symbol she’s connected with. Unfortunately I didn’t realize that our animated, lighted snowman needed lots of assembly.

So Bree decided she needed her favorite chair to wait this one out. She must have seen daddy assemble before!

But a 22 month old can wait only so long. Luckily bubbles still hold her attention!

Finally, the snowman was assembled and setup. It was all worth it. She just sat on the sidewalk and watched him move his hat back and forth for minutes! I didn’t get a pic because I decided to just sit there with her. It was very sweet.

Inside we went and she decided she’d kick back with the new home she gave our mini-hockey goal.

Bauer woke up, we all had dinner and it was time for bed! Bree first because today was napless for her.

In true Bree style, there was as much playtime beforehand bed as possible. She even decided her dress shoes with the little roses on them might make good bed slippers!

Finally she hit the edge, grabbed her blanket and decided to join Bauer and I on the quilt we brought in to her room.

Bauer and I went downstairs to play a little more. We both stopped amd smiled about our great day in front of the Garland we got at Lowe’s for the stair rail (a Julie request we never quite got right last year). What a nice shot :)

Bauer got sleepy, I put him down and plugged up the day’s work.

I wouldn’t be surprised if you go back and forth between those two pics for the next few minutes!

Merry Christmas everyone, especially Julie who we all miss so much while she’s in Denver!
